Signs, Signs: Please Touch

Although we are NOT to touch any works of art in the museum, this one is an exception.

This was selected by the Museum to offer the opportunity to learn through touch.

She is Venus, the Goddess of Love, caught by surprise while bathing. The is a marble copy of the sculpture by the artist Antonio Canova, (Italian, 1757 -1822).

I like the idea of feeling the smoothness of the marble, but it kind of creeps me out thinking of men rubbing their hands over her ta-ta’s. Or is it just me? Ha ha!

It’s not often one is permitted to touch anything in a museum. Beautiful statue.

Unusual, but a good idea for those who can’t see, or for kids. Good sign find!

Yes, great idea. We have visited several museums where special “touch exhibits” are all over the place for the benefit of blind people. It is great to see the blind being able to appreciate art in this way.

it’s beautiful Ebie, it’s great they allow you to touch on that one, as sometimes, touching the object brings us to a lot deeper appreciation of what we see.

The comments to your Touch Me sign have me LOL. Ebie! I join those who say it’s a superb idea (I like to touch sculptures), but I admit Venus is an interesting choice.

[Yup, had a great time in Dumaguete. The Uni your sister works in has lovely grounds. Because it was still holiday, it was peaceful, no students. We had some great food, too!]
